The Main Ones were formed by Matthew Hickey (vocals) and Frankey Miopic (Guitar) in Limehouse in 2004. Matthew liked Morrissey, Joy Division and James Dean, Frankey liked Captain Beefheart, Television and Pere Ubu .They jammed on Stooges riffs for a while and played a gig in an art gallery. After falling out with several bass players and drummers, their current lineup stands as Alex de Renzi (Drums), Bulgo (Bass) and Ed Honorada (2nd Guitar).
Surely the best batch yet, De Renzi’s drumming combines the primal pound of 60’s garage groups with the disco influenced rhythm of the New Wave. Bulgo’s elliptical bass riffs create a constant shifting groove and Honorada’s delayed Jaguar recalls the delicacy of Brian Eno’s ambient excursions one moment with the savagery of vintage Sonic Youth the next. The Main Ones songs are a continuous, sprawling meditation on the absurdities of everyday existence and general disgust at the state of the nation.

Playing now since the age of 17, John soon discovered that he wanted to write stuff of his own, because it’s much more of a buzz. Now at the age of 29 he has have written and released 2 albums of original material, and have penned a rock musical. John is still striving to get a record deal to fulfil a life long dream. He loves to perform live especially gigs where original material matters!
The band have been going since about August 2004 with Bob(guitar,) Harry(drums), Richard(keys) just jamming in a small out building in Sidmouth (and i mean small!!) but struggled to gain a bass player. Bob auditioned about 4/5 singers, and eventually heard the out of tune voice of Kelvin in a pub. Ric (bass) was secured through a friend of a friend. Lots of gigs followed and the band is continually developing. We have recently made our first CD(Big in Sidmouth) in the presshouse studio in Colyton and have written two songs with a shed load more in the pipe line!average age of the band is 41!!! So excusing the pun “it aint for the money” we just love watching others having a fun night out listening to us. life moves pretty fast if you dont stop and look you could miss it!!!
Against All Reason are a screamo/punk/metal 5 piece hailing from the deepest darkest corner of south west Devon. Formed just over 2 years ago with the intention of creating the kind of music that they all loved. The band got together and wrote their first few songs which made it onto the “Bandaid for a bulletwound” EP, recorded in just 9 hours with professional hangovers. After some positive feedback they began playing shows & continued to write more songs. 2005 saw AAR playing more shows than ever before, and also finally stabilising their line up with the multi talented Ant (ninja) Stewart on bass.
Onstage they create a whirlwind of intense emotional energy & harnessed aggression whilst never afraid to chuck in the odd cover and the now infamous (Riggsy’s) words of wisdom. They have plans to release their as yet untitled EP very soon.
We take influences from many different styles & artists. Here are a few of
our favourites:
Finch, Odd Project, Death by stereo, Slayer, AFI, As i lay dying, 18 Visions,
Comeback kid.
